SURF REPORTS

I think this will be the last report from me for the season as we lose our internet connection tonight. The swell pushed up a bit from yesterday producing 3-4ft waves with the odd bigger one. Unfortunately the wind stayed lightly onshore for the day but there was still some clean ones coming through, with most of the action at kongs and money-trees.

With one camp already closed and the number of surfers in the remaining camps totalling about 20 there is still plenty of waves to go around, even when conditions aren’t perfect. With the forecast showing an increase in swell over the next few days, it’s looking like a lot of uncrowded surfing ahead…..

See ya next year…!!

A small bump up in swell today gave us good clean 3-4ft conditions all day. No crowds and fun waves at kongs down through money-trees….

Another day in paradise…

28th Oct 2009

The swell dropped today leaving us with 2-3ft waves at kongs and money-trees. Good winds all day giving nice clean conditions and with only a few people out there it was still fun.

27th Oct 2009

Ah yes, finally a good day of surfing again. With really early offshores and an increase in swell there were guys on it at day break. It stayed consistently 4ft all day with pulses throughout the day delivering bigger sets. Nice conditions and probably a maximum of 20 people out at any given time meant there was plenty of waves for everyone.

Waves up at kongs, moneytrees and even wider sets further down the reef spread the small crowd and offered some good barrels through different sections. A lot of happy campers tonight!

26th Oct 2009

The day started very average with onshore winds and no sign of swell, it really didn’t look to promising, especially to the new arrivals into camp. Though by the afternoon high tide the wind had swung offshore and the swell had pushed up a little, with clean 2-3fters and the odd 4ft set coming through at kongs and into money-trees.

Low crowds and good signs of a push in swell gives tomorrow some hope of agood day of surfing ahead…..

25th Oct 2009

There hasn’t been much to report on surf-wise out here the last 2 days. 1-2ft kongs and money-trees with the very rare 3 footer making an appearance! But the winds have been good all day, everyday and with such small numbers in the camps, there is still plenty of waves (although small) to go around.

23rd Oct 2009

There were fun 3-4ft waves along the reef today. Some runners at money-trees kept all that are still out here happy. With good winds everyday and such few people in all camps it’s probably the best place to be for waves right now.

I think we helped drink up the swell last night by staging a pool competition which ensured many a bintangs were consumed. A fun night had by all and few waves today helped clear foggy heads!

22nd Oct 2009

Very small today, with the only place to surf being up at kongs. A lot of people choosing other activities or to just have a relaxed day in the jungle. For those that got amongst it though it was uncrowded, clean 2ft fun, a great day to bust out the fish to make it even more fun.

21st Oct 2009

The swell dropped again today but we still had uncrowded, offshore, 3-4ft waves up at kongs and money-trees. Down around the bay, really small but playful waves were reported at tiger tracks.

19th Oct 2009

Whoa, what a day! Strong early offshore’s again and with the swell pushing up more, conditions were near perfect. 5-6ft waves reeling down the reef from moneytree’s and thru the fang, some nice big clean barrels were had.

Reports of fun rippable waves down in the bay at 20/20 and tiger tracks, ensured that no matter what your level of surfing there was waves for all. Late afternoon low tide produced some clean, hollow ones at money’s. Another amazing day in paradise, bintang time!!!

18th Oct 2009

Ah another day in paradise…. Strong offshore winds all day and a slight build in swell gave those lucky enough to be here a full day of fun 4ft surf with the odd bigger one on the sets.

Waves up at kongs and down thru moneys on the higher tide and some fun low tide action at the ledge and moneys again. With a bit of an increase due tomorrow and so few people in the camps, it’s looking set to be another good day of surfing.

17th Oct 2009

First day back in camp for me and it feels so good to be here again. Light variable winds all day and the first sign of the next little swell pulse had some fun 2-3 footers with the odd 4ft set coming down the reef from kongs to moneytrees. With minimal people in all camps there was plenty of waves for everyone. Promising signs for the coming days!!

Today was my last day in G-land and what a great day it was. Surfed 6-8ft pumping Money Trees for 6 hours with some solid double up sets. The last week has been unreal, the waves haven’t dropped below 5ft, been averaging at least 5 hours in the water everyday.

After surfing my brains out and getting sunburnt all day I came in to go fishing with Pak Sum (Captain) and Annie, was very lucky to catch a big Spanish Mackerel which is going to make great sashimi for dinner.

This year had been the best trip I’ve ever had in G-Land in the 9 years I’ve been coming here. The waves were great but most important thing is how much better the camp has improved over the years with still the same great staff. Can’t wait to come back next year, see ya then!

New guest arrived today to a clean solid 6-8ft Money Trees swell. The waves were pumping all day due to the strong off shore wind and mid tides. Looks like a lot more swell coming which is good, a great way to finish off my trip!

Saturday, 9th Oct ‘09

The swell had definitely increased today, some solid 6ft waves breaking at Money Trees unfortunately not as perfect as yesterday but still some big long rides. The swell was still building on dark so looks like more waves tomorrow.

Money Trees had some perfect over head high waves with strong trade winds making today the best day this week. Just seen some photos of jim beam ripping it up at Tiger Tracks. The waves looked really good with lots of tube rides been rid. According to the swell report the waves should increase over the next few days and the wind should stay off shore.

Thursday, 8th Oct ‘09

Today the wind started to swings more towards the east making the swell a lot cleaner than it has been. Usually the trade winds blow everyday but as it getting late in the season the winds can become a little fickle, but when it does come together there’s a lot less people in the water making the wait worth while. Looks like some good trade winds and swell on the way.

Sure to be worth the wait!

A beautiful little 3ft swell hit the reef today. Kongs all the way to Speedies was decent, shame the wind was cross shore from the south, if it had of been off shore there would have been amazing little waves. The swell charts show an increase in the swell for the next week and the the return of good trade winds tomorrow.

This morning was small at Kongs, but the small group of surfers were getting fun, long head high rides. In the afternoon everything changed with a big increase in the swell pushing 3-4ft sets.

The Kongs and Money Trees were the pick of the spots on the low tide with some very hollow waves coming in.  Will be interesting to see what tomorrow brings.

This morning we said goodbye to 5 of our guests that were heading back to bali. we had 10 new guests arrived (including Steve our new yoga instructor) they were looking very tired from the overland travelling
but were welcomed to good head high waves at Kongs.

Everyone was getting waves and everyone is looking surfed out. The day was finished off with Steve doing a yoga session upstairs with a few of our crew.

Everyone just had dinner and is looking very tired.. were all off to bed!

Today was a beautiful day in the jungle, the sun had finally made an appearance..making everyone cheery and even giving the ladies a touch of glow.  Still had little waves at Speedies in the morning then on low tide in the afternoon Kongs produced great little hotdog waves.

Looks like the weather will stay in this condition till through this week.

Saturday, 3 Oct ‘09

This morning the swell had dropped by a foot but it still had the same conditions as yesterday with the offshore winds and perfect little long rides at Speedies. In the afternoon the tide had dropped making the waves at Kongs and Money Trees fun. It’s looking like tomorrow should still be good.

the thirst day of offshore sorta, finally some relief, albeit it, swell was small with the odd 3 footer rolling through. On dark inside Pad reared the odd peak. As we all go to sleep praying for some offshore action, let us all think about all those poor folk who lost their lives in the earthquake affected areas.

All the best to their loved ones,
